New Condenser Mic Rode NT1-A
by ivonne on Jun.23, 2009, under Music, Paradigm
After talking to a few people about what low budget condenser mic to obtain, I went with the Rode NT1-A, purchasing it online from Sweetwater.com. I enjoy working with sweetwater's sales reps, they are very resourceful and non-pushy, which makes me comfortable purchasing from them.
What I need for my voice is a microphone that pics up the subtle nuances, since I have a quiet voice. My vocal treatment is more a la' blonde redhead, so vox recording for me has always been a task.
This microphone, with a pop filter, and plugged directly into my Mbox Mini is exactly what I need right now to record tracks for my EP. I also plan to record a violin player using the same setup. Lets see how that goes! I feel I will have more problems writing out the music for her than actually capturing the audio.
FUN!
I posted a link below to Amazon's site which has the same product, and is sold by several different suppliers, as well as has a few used ones. BTW, I am an Amazon.com affiliate, but feel free to browse other reviews and purchase it from wherever you choose!

Here is a section of a song featuring vocals from Anastasia (from Cruel Black Dove) -- I just started to tweak the vocals, this is an idea for the chorus:
Good things come to those who wait…

Two confirmed tracks that are in the works for the RoaR/rr project is one with vocals by Anastasia from Cruel Black Dove, and a collaboration track with glitchy/synthy artist talk.
Im going to be running around in May, between NYC and Texas, wish me luck (hate airplanes)! I'm leaving the Nano Keys in Texas, lol.

Mixing, Throbbing Gristle, Music Making, Electrogirl.Net////
This has been quite a week! In preparation to release some tracks, Adam K. Olson --graphic designer and marketing extraordinaire booked this new domain for me. The name fits my personality...bleep bleep blop!
Late last week I went to Timeless Mastering and the owner Adrian Morgan mixed a track for me. He specializes in mastering, that's his main trade but I asked if he could mix my Ableton Live electro stuff, since he is a super nice dude and has a great ear of what things should sound like. His previous mixing of Proud Simon's album "Night of Criminals" was quite good, he did a great job with vocals. Anyways, he mixed my song called Truvvy and I will post it early this week on the RoaR/rr website, since its going to be my first release since the Masculine/Feminine days. Quite exciting, it sounds really different from Masculine/Feminine, and I hope that people enjoy it!
Throbbing Gristle at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple -- was not too happy that I didn't stick around for their second set, but the lineup of the show was really different. It went like this: Throbbing Gristle, intermission to sign and meet the band, opening band, then Throbbing Gristle again. hmmmm. I left during the intermission, which had already lasted about 40 minutes and I just can't sit still while they were meeting fans. It was late and I was tired ;(
I have a few new tracks that are near completion. Anastasia from Cruel Black Dove started to lay some vocals down for a song, and its really coming together. She is really gifted, her voice and delivery is gold. I plan to go back to Adrian to mix that song
Song idea for “Lola 2″
by ivonne on Mar.30, 2009, under Video
I came up with another song idea instead of finishing up a song last weekend. I really hate finishing songs because I feel they get boring if I work on them too much. Its like what appeals to me at the beggining of the process is gone, and then it turns into a headache. I know, i just have to get over it ![]()
Anyways, this song is going to be called Lola 2, I use Imposcar alot! I really don't know what I would do without it. Someday I'll grow out of it, and my stuff will quit sounding so '80's...But not yet!
Proud Simon remix

Tar Washed Ashore -- Roar/rr Dance Mixx
This is a song that I remixed for Proud Simon. Hope you find it super dancy and cool! You can download it at my PureVolume site for RoaR/rr.
I just want to post it up on the blog temporarily before Proud Simon releases the professional sounding (professionally mixed and mastered) version of the song. If you like what you hear drop them a line at ps.proudsimon@gmail.com and sign up for the band's mailing list --they play NYC at cool places now and again, and they always have fresh songs to perform!
Holy - Work in Progress Chorus part…
by ivonne on Mar.16, 2009, under Music
This is a part of the song that I am working on, I was thinking of Edward Ka-Spell when I started to build and somehow its changed and turned into a different wave of exploration. I am going to give singing a try on this one. I feel its a different type of idea, and I can try and do weird vocal things and it would really roll in that sense...
I have given two rough tracks to friends so they can sing on the songs, I can't wait to hear what they give me back as vox for mixing...Its exciting!
“sex will cover yr black machinery”

I have a new website for my Video Editing/Directing freelancing portfolio its at iamivonne.com. It was created by Adam K Olson, who really loves John Foxx more than Gary Numan. Yes, he might have been drunk but it was said -- Saturday night!
I recently finished a remix for a band called Proud Simon, just handed over the files for mixing/mastering -- I will post a link when the song is available.
I love the remix mostly because I got the opportunity to work with a non - electro band, and make an electro dance song! I had total creative freedom...I could put in whatever sounds I wanted and there was never a 'that sounds really weird' complaint in the feedback. ![]()
We will see what everyone thinks when its out!
I hope its a (Club hit) *reference = And One's "Body Company (Club Hit)"
